The Westmoreland Museum of American Art focuses its collection and its exhibits upon the art works of and from the United States created both before and after the nation was founded. Landscapes, still lifes and portraiture works are the primary types of art that the museum displays, including works by famous painters like Mary Cassat, Robert Henri and William Michael Harnett. Most pieces in the museum come from the 19th and early 20th centuries and also include a wide selection of landscapes of southwestern Pennsylvania and industrial scenes, both of which speak strongly to the history of this region of the state. Located a few blocks east from Seton Hill College, the museum also has numerous temporary exhibits displayed throughout the year.
Open Wed. - Sun. 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thurs. until 9:00 p.m.; Closed Mon. - Tue.
Suggested donation $5.
